“For it is in giving, that we receive” -Francis of Assisi
Christmas is fast approaching, and while this is usually a happy time of year for many, enjoying time with family and friends, often times this is not the case for our residents. This time of year can be particularly hard for our residents as they struggle with feelings of loneliness, hopelessness and feeling as though they’ve let down their family and community. Often times our residents feel shame in not having the financial means to provide their children with a gift for Christmas. Many times these men have little to no ties left with family and friends, and end up spending the holiday here at the Inn with the other residents.
We at Jeremiah’s feel that everyone deserves a little joy, especially at the Christmas season, and we recognize how hard each one of our residents work, on a daily basis, towards recovery from active addiction. These men are making great strides every day towards being responsible, productive members of society, and for these reasons, we work just as hard to provide them with a little bit of joy during the holiday season by providing the residents with a few basic items many of us take for granted, as well as gifts for the residents children.
But we can not do this alone.
